The walk back up the hill after dinner was a bit of a challenge, although the proprietor offered to collect us in his own car if we called when we were ready. The town is about a 20-minute walk away, and walking down is easy. The place is in a lovely quiet spot backing onto the golf course. We had a large, comfortable room with a balcony overlooking the back garden, great breakfasts, and very friendly, helpful proprietors. Fantastic B&B. I highly recommend La Villa Florida.

We booked breakfast in bed for €7.50 per person per night, and it was lovely: soft boiled eggs from the host’s own chickens, homemade yoghurt and freshly squeezed orange juice, plus breads, croissants, pain au chocolat, jams, coffee, tea and hot chocolate. You can also have breakfast in their living room. We got to Dieppe at 11pm, and the owner kindly picked us up from the harbour. The host also offered lifts to and from the town centre, but we didn’t take them. The walk into town is downhill and not bad, but the uphill return after a day of shopping really takes its toll. My boyfriend and I stayed while travelling around Dieppe. Our room was spacious and clean, and the bed was comfortable. An excellent place to stay.
