The day before our Booking.com reservation, there was still no information about it, despite several follow-ups about a €250 deposit. After I called repeatedly, just two hours before we were due to arrive, they said there had been a plumbing problem at our place. It felt like a carefully organized scam, run like a mafia operation based in Aix-en-Provence. Avoid at all costs.

After we had already paid for the reservation, the host asked for another €250 deposit. Once we sent it, they went quiet for hours, then said it was too late to take guests. Scammers, plain and simple.

I paid for the booking, and Booking.com had accepted my request for a late arrival, but nobody let me in. I kept calling and got no answer. Booking.com's customer service sent me back to the owner without trying to resolve anything. I find the whole thing dishonest.

I arrived at 21 Boulevard Gambetta in Digne at 3:30 PM on June 28th to pick up the keys. I had paid for the apartment on June 24th by credit card through Booking.com, and had texted the owner to say I was there waiting. No one showed up or replied. This apartment is managed by Alexandra Apartments. Access to the rental was refused, and a €250 security deposit by credit card was required with immediate debit. Be warned.
