Fasthotel Dijon Nord

It’s a cheap place near the highway, and you get what you pay for. Fine for sleeping, but there isn’t much else. The sheets were clean and the bath had nice hot water.

The WiFi was good, but the bed was so bad I didn’t sleep a wink. You can hear everything the neighbors above or below say and do, and with no sides on the shower, water spills all over the bathroom.

The staff were especially friendly, considering we’re English and don’t speak much French. It’s cheap, and you get a cheap room to match. The room wasn’t as described and had no carpet, telephone, or toiletries. Their card machine was broken, so I couldn’t pay by card. They didn’t charge an admin fee for cash, but they also didn’t offer or give me a receipt.

I’d booked another night, but decided against it and found somewhere else. The basic hotel is what you’d expect for the price, though there are better options nearby. I booked in the morning and arrived that afternoon, only to be told at reception that they couldn’t take cards. Luckily, I had a €50 note in my pocket. The next morning, with no buses on weekends, I had to walk miles into town to find a cash machine. Then at 6 pm, while I was resting in bed, the cleaner opened the door without knocking. At 10 pm, a man came to ask for the money, even though I was going to pay the following morning.
