Suite Darcy & Spa

The place looked great and clean at first, but that changed when we paid attention to the details. The spa was empty when we got there, so we had to fill it ourselves with a 300L tank. That left no hot water for showers or dishes, and the spa still didn’t heat up. After an hour the water was a little cold. When I started the jets, a lot of residue came out, which wasn’t reassuring. The shower smelled bad and had a lot of mold. That’s intolerable even in a low-end hotel. The showers are clean... There was dust in the bathroom drawers, in the cupboards where the sheets are kept, and near the one and only window. The fan was full of dust too, great for allergies. And the dishwasher hadn’t even been done when we arrived. The owner is in complete denial and stopped replying. I’m a little surprised by all the positive reviews given our experience. It sounds like a dream, but once you look closely, it’s disgusting.

The private parking right in front was appreciated, and the apartment itself felt cozy and zen. It had a perfect walk-in shower, a jacuzzi, and a perfect spa. We’d recommend it for couples, especially with the changeable lights. There were a few practical snags. The bar and cellar next door were so noisy until 3 a.m. that sleep was impossible. The vanilla scent was a bit much. We couldn’t get the Wi-Fi connected: we couldn’t find our username and password, and the password didn’t work too much, but it didn’t bother us much since we had 4G. For Bluetooth music we couldn’t find a speaker, so we used the TV. The kitchen had only the bare minimum, and bowls would be welcome since the cups were a bit small for breakfast.

Private, secure parking meant we could leave the car there, and we had a lovely romantic evening after ordering a light meal. The cozy dim lighting and decor were exactly what we loved. When we first walked in, we said, “Wow, it’s magnificent!” If we’re back in Dijon, we’ll definitely return.

The apartment was spotless, and the spa was really great, though it took a long time to fill. The heat indoors was what spoiled things for us, with no air conditioning. We could also have used more places to dry things, like bath mats and towels. We couldn’t get the TV to work either.
