The only thing that really spoiled the hotel for us was the smoking in some rooms. The cigarette smell around rooms 14 and 15 was really strong, which is unpleasant if you don't smoke.

Breakfast was excellent, apart from the terrible coffee in a flask. But the awful smell of smoke spoiled our stay. Some rooms allow smoking, and we weren't asked or warned about it.

The décor isn't especially modern, but everything was clean and comfortable. Le Crystal has hotel rooms, including standard doubles and family rooms, and some with sea view balconies. There are also apartments and studios to rent, handy if you want more space for a longer stay or a bigger group. Free Wi-Fi, an on-site bar, a breakfast room and a living room are useful to have. Most of all, the location is great: the hotel is right by the beach in the centre of Dinard, with easy access to Plage de l'Écluse. No need for the car or a long walk with sandy towels. A good fit for a casual seaside break, with comfy rooms and good value if you don't need fancy extras.

The hotel has seen better days. We raised some cleanliness issues in the apartment, and they waived the final cleaning fee. The views from the sea-view terrace were literally breathtaking, though, and the position right on the beach made up for some of the negatives. We'd definitely consider coming back if the price were a bit lower.
