Le Moulin du Landion Hôtel & Spa

My husband and daughter both became ill after dinner. When I spoke to the person at reception the next morning, he didn’t want to know and offered no help. He only made ludicrous suggestions, like maybe they weren’t used to eating fish. The following day, my husband had to be admitted to hospital with dehydration, so my family needed to spend the night at another hotel, adding more cost. The hospital asked for details, and public health will be informed. Appalling experience.

The breakfast was really nice for 13€, with sweet and savoury food, good coffee, lots of teas, fresh bread and fruit, jam, yoghurt and eggs. The room was comfortable, very clean and had a nice bed, though the corridors smelled a bit and the old doors were very noisy. We didn’t use the SPA, just looked at it. It’s a large Jacuzzi and a sauna, reserved for private use in advance at 17€/h. The staff were super friendly, and the location is wonderful. At the restaurant there’s a great tray of delicious regional cheeses, good wines and, of course, delicious Champagne. The menu has plenty on it, but the cooking is average.

The village is beautiful, quiet and old, and the former mill is charming. Its water wheel and cogs have been kept tastefully behind glass and are a feature in the dining room. The room felt a little tired, mostly because of loose wallpaper, but the staff were helpful. I’d stay again.

The setting is fabulous, and the room was an adequate size with a balcony. It took almost five minutes with the tap running to get hot water, unfortunately. Dinner was high standard and the service was good. You can have a continental breakfast in the breakfast room or in your own room.
