The animals were a huge hit with my kids, especially the horses, alpacas, donkeys and little ones. It’s a lovely, well-run place for families who enjoy nature, with comfortable accommodation that has a modern feel. We’re definitely coming back next year. Thanks to Phillip and family.

The Thursday grill at the barn is a nice chance to meet other guests if you're in the mood to socialize. We were worn out from work in London and mostly kept to ourselves, though. The barn is only a couple of minutes away on foot and has great WiFi, a pool, board games and a small bar. There’s no WiFi in the lodge, which suited us and helped us unwind. Nearby, Lac du Saint-Pardoux is a lovely spot for swimming, paddle boarding, the water park and the tree adventure course. We went often, swam with the dog and sunbathed. It’s about half an hour away. We stayed at Clos Des Chenaies for three and a half weeks and came away feeling thoroughly rested. The lodges are private, with none looking onto another, and each has a hot tub, a well-equipped kitchen and an outdoor grill. The setting is peaceful and quiet, but there are plenty of things to do, too. We enjoyed walks, bike rides and days out, along with some lazy days at home. Basic shops are a five-minute drive away and supermarkets take around 20 minutes, so it is remote. We did larger grocery shops and that worked well for us. Philippe and his wife were so kind, helpful and accommodating. We brought our nervous vizsla, who got used to the other animals, including a friendly sheep that seems to think it's a dog, as well as horses, llamas and goats. They're all accustomed to dogs, so it was a good experience for her. We don't have children, but it would be a great place for families, and the kids we saw were having a wonderful time. We almost hesitated because there weren't many recent reviews, but most of the people we met were returning guests. Several were on their second or third stay, and one family was there for a ninth visit. Highly recommended.

There’s so much to do here that it’s hard to get bored. Nature is all around, and the place itself is really beautiful. I’d definitely recommend it.

We loved discovering Clos des Chênaies and the people behind it. It’s the kind of place where you can switch off, enjoy the simple things and make lovely family memories. The sunflower field views and animals all over the property make a lovely setting, and our chalet was clean and comfortable. The barn is full of simple things to enjoy, from bikes and a ping-pong table to a basketball hoop and a tractor. They kept both the kids and adults happy. Sending lots of love.
