At least the hotel has air conditioning. As for the restaurant, forget about getting a proper meal. The food is industrial, pre-cooked, frozen, and reheated in the microwave, even served in glass bowls with the brand still visible on the lid. People say the restaurant used to be very good.

This little hotel looks charming, but the staff were so rude when we stopped in for coffee that we decided to move on. We’d also been considering booking a couple of rooms for a night or two, though I can’t speak to what they’re like. There are plenty of other hotels around. They should remember that keeping customers happy is what keeps a place going.

The galette bretonne with pears was good, and my vegetarian dish was nicely presented. The food itself was pretty basic, though, with the usual meat-focused fare from Dompierre and the surrounding area. Service was good and fairly quick, considering the meals are prepared to order. They were open on the Sunday between Christmas and New Year, which was especially nice. It’s a gastronomic restaurant, but don’t come expecting amazing flavors.
