Appart’hôtel Douai Gare

We were glad to leave. After a long wait, the welcome was warm enough while we paid the rent, but the apartment was dirty enough that we had to redo the dishes and bathrooms. It was fairly spacious and functional, and the soundproofing was so poor we could talk to the neighbors downstairs without raising our voices. The landlord was haughty, even contemptuous. I can't give zero, so this gets a 1. Run.

My friend and I were lucky to have somewhere else to stay after our reservation was canceled at the last minute. We'd booked three weeks ahead and confirmed by phone with the manager two days before, yet he canceled without explaining why. He said he'd emailed us, but we hadn't received anything. His explanations contradicted each other, and he was close to insulting. He was unpleasant, pretentious, and obnoxious. Avoid this place if you don't want to be stranded in an unfamiliar city. I've never seen anything like it. I'd give zero stars if I could.

We booked in September for our two medical school entrance exams, in December and May, and had an excellent stay. The apartment was very quiet and clean, with a useful, functional kitchenette. It's also well placed, steps from the center and a 12-minute walk from Gayant Expo. Thanks to Charles for being professional and dedicated.

I traveled all the way from Marseille to Douai, only to be told on arrival that my reservation had been canceled for no reason. I'd booked through the official website a month earlier and even spoke to the manager two days before, when he confirmed it. He was extremely unpleasant, almost aggressive, and kept changing his explanation without making any sense. When I told him I was now stranded, all he said was, "Oh, right." Appalling and completely unprofessional. No one deserves that treatment, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
