Lucie gave us great tips for restaurants, tours and things to do, which made the trip even better. The hospitality here really stands out. She, her husband and their cute baby are such lovely hosts, and we felt welcome as soon as we arrived. We’ve already been back to La Grangelitte twice and will return again. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, and breakfast has a nice range of choices. We didn’t use the spa, but it looked beautiful and inviting. On our last day, they arranged a very late checkout so we could shower after a long bike ride before driving home. That flexibility and kindness meant a lot.
Lucie welcomed us warmly and gave us helpful recommendations for restaurants and cycling and hiking routes. We loved the quiet village of Doussard and the mountain views, especially La Tournette. We stayed for three nights in July at La Grangelitte, a renovated former farmhouse with tasteful rooms and shared spaces. Breakfast was entirely homemade, from the butter and cakes to the jams and fromage blanc. We highly recommend this lovely place.
The owner recognized how bad the room was and offered to clean it again, but by then we'd lost trust and didn't see a point in staying. We left in a hurry, and the weekend was ruined. The one good thing was getting a full refund a few days later. It's a shame you have to leave to get even a little respect. The photos made the place look charming, but reality was disappointing. We got a frosty welcome after a polite hello. The room was filthy, with live cobwebs, dead flies, hair and fur on the floor, and a sheet with a red stain that we'd rather think was from a menstrual accident. There was dried urine on the toilet.
The view from our room each morning was magnificent, and the jacuzzi with that panorama, looking over the beautifully renovated barn, was a real treat. Our five-year-old daughter got to try it too and gives it her approval. La Grangelitte and its host left us with lovely memories. We found the host kind and discreet, and breakfast was wonderful: a generous spread with new choices and homemade items every morning. My daughter loved the watermelon and now asks for it every day! The room was tastefully decorated, comfortable and well soundproofed. The shower pressure was a little low, but that wasn't a big deal given how good everything else was. The location is in the heart of a Savoyard village among the mountains, with some restaurants a 15-20 minute walk away.
