The Originals City, Hôtel Le Coeur d'Or, Sedan Est

HORRIBLE, BED BUGS. We found bites on our daughter in the morning, then searched and found bed bugs in the pillow. When we told the manager, she asked whether we'd brought them with us and said it was the first time this had happened to her. She said she couldn't do anything because we'd booked with booking.com. We paid for that night and weren't even sure whether we'd also have to pay for the second one. Instead of going to Chassepierre festival, we spent a horrible day doing laundry and lost a lot of money. We had nowhere decent to eat nearby after the hotel turned us away from its restaurant at 19:30, despite there being two tables free. We'd booked through Booking; they said they couldn't have known we wanted dinner. The only other option in town was a bad doner and pizza place, so we went to Sedan for decent food. The room was hot and stuffy, with no air conditioning. The double bed was very small, and the third bed was awful, with the metal box spring pressing through the mattress. Traffic made it noisy when we opened the windows at night, and we didn't sleep at all. The service and manager were extremely unprofessional and unhelpful, and the place was overpriced and uncomfortable. Worst hotel experience we've had. Skip this one.

Having a charger really close to the hotel made things easy for me and my electric vehicle. The room was clean and modern, and the bed was really comfortable. The rooms overall were very good and comfortable.

I've sent numerous emails and still haven't had a reply from the third party. The hotel gave one lousy explanation, saying the booking site charges commission, supposedly $126. I paid two separate fees: $126 for a booking advertised through a third-party website, then another €95 at hotel checkout. I'm still waiting for the refund after my visit at the beginning of August. I was misled into paying €95 above the advertised price because of what the receptionist said was a simple error. If the hotel asks you to pay again at checkout, don't do it unless you're ready to keep pushing for your money back. I hope the dispute gets resolved soon, but it's been a waste of time. Shameful customer service from both companies. I'm very disappointed.

The restaurant is fantastic, though it's closed on Sunday evening and there's nothing else in the village. The hotel itself is clean and the staff are nice. Breakfast could use more vegetables.
