Dinner out on the terrace, with the river right there, was really good. The rooms are pretty basic, but for the price they’re great value. Service was super friendly too, and we felt very welcome and well looked after.

The river setting was lovely, and dinner was okay. We were so keen to get out of there that we didn’t stay for breakfast, so I can’t say what it was like. The hotel itself was cold, damp, and very dirty. I wouldn’t want anyone, let alone children, sleeping there, and it doesn’t even meet the standard I’d expect from a youth hostel. It has real potential in such a lovely nature reserve, which makes the management’s apathy about basic hygiene and hotel standards even more deplorable. The managers seemed nice, and I’m sorry to say it, but they need to take the business more seriously instead of charging crazy prices for substandard accommodation. Never again. I’m also not sure it’s legal to serve drinks by the glass at full price from big supermarket bottles. The Coke was flat, too. When I paid, the manager didn’t ask how our stay had been, which made it seem as if he already knew the answer. Quite possibly the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. It doesn’t deserve any stars.

The food was lovely and delicious. The staff were friendly, and although most of them are French, they’re willing to speak English. The owner speaks French, Dutch, and English.

The host was super friendly, and the place had a cozy feel with a fireplace. Food was great, and being near the river is a wonderful location. Very recommended!
