Hôtel Boule de Neige

After three nights wild camping on the GR10, I was very glad to arrive at the Boule de Neige. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout, and the warm welcome came with English spoken. My room had what I needed to rest and recharge. Dinner was good, breakfast was great, and in summer they offer hikers a good-value half-board package plus a packed sandwich lunch. My stay was brief, but they made it a real pleasure. I’d recommend it to hikers, and I suspect skiers would enjoy it too.

Breakfast starts at 06:00 for GR10 hikers, and even people wild camping outside the hotel can come in for a shower. The restaurant has a good range of excellent food. Our room had a separate desk area, plenty of space, and was clean, with great beds and pillows in different firmnesses. The rooms lean heavily into a ski theme. The owners gave us a very warm welcome. A family-run place I’d happily recommend.

The owners were friendly, and our spacious room had lovely decor. The bathroom was small, though that didn’t bother us. After getting soaked hiking in heavy rain, the zucchini soup tasted especially good. The half-board meals are nicely presented too. A lovely ski hotel and well worth the money.

The hosts are friendly and know what they’re doing, and the food is great. It’s clean and well run, with the distinctive decor you see in mountain hotels from the 1970s. Very pleasant.
