After days out, it was lovely to unwind with a bath, sit by the wood-burning stove, and sometimes enjoy a wonderful massage. The weather kept changing: two very rainy days, two snowy ones, then two days of spring walks. The microclimates on opposite sides of the mountain really are different. The house sits at the edge of the village in beautiful countryside, and our dog could sniff around the adjoining fenced property. We walked a short way beside the road, which can be busy, to reach the lovely area near the waterfalls. February's Wednesday market felt very local, as did carrying our dinner groceries home and having coffee at the village bakery.

The big enclosed garden, bathtub, and wood-burning stove were such a treat. We had a great time last week. The gîte is lovely and has everything you need, and the area is gorgeous for long dog walks. The autumn colors were beautiful too. See you next time!

The setting is gorgeous and so peaceful, and the gîte itself was lovely. We spent two weeks at Stijn's Maison nature house and Gerti and Elle gave us a warm welcome. The weather changed a lot, but we still got out for wonderful walks. The routes had been shared ahead of time and were available to download, and they took us past lovely lakes and waterfalls. We’ll definitely return!

We’ve stayed at Maison van Stijn three times, and it’s such a lovely place in beautiful surroundings. It’s great for walking dogs, with lakes, rivers, or waterfalls often along the way where they can cool down.

Even with less sunshine, the walking weather was lovely for us and the dogs in this beautiful area. Gerti and Ellen made us feel so welcome, and even got the wonderful sauna ready. We really enjoyed the pampering and the stay. The gites are clean, comfortable, and neat. Maison van Stijn comes highly recommended if you’d like to stay in the beautiful Auvergne region.
