Grande Maison mitoyenne

We kept looking forward to returning to Lavandaline after days out visiting the area's lovely sights and villages. Sometimes we'd swim in the nice pool, spend time with other guests, or just read. The views over the hills and down the valley are stunning, and every room is positioned so you can enjoy them from your terrace or window. We spent ten nights there at the beginning of June 2019, and what a surprise it was. Patrick met us. He built this beautiful house on a sloping hillside right in the middle of the arrondissement VAR in the Provence, over ten years. He's the owner with his wife Veronique. The spacious, quiet rooms have a typical Provençal feel and all the amenities. Three times a week you can join a chambre d’Hotes meal prepared by chef Patrick, with true Provençale cooking and more. The quality is well matched to the price. Getting to know the other guests is lovely, and it's also a chance to spend time with Patrick and his lovely wife Veronique, who often join in. They started this because they love sharing the beauty of the place, and you can see their motivation and determination in what they've built. As Arnold said, “I’ll be back”.

The setting is lovely, quiet, with nice views, and it's worth going uphill behind the B&B. The access road is narrow and in poor condition, though, and in August 2017 the main entrance was hard to spot because work was going on. There's a bell on a tree by the parking spaces beneath the "Lavandaline" sign. The pool is 11 x 6 and a nice extra. The owners are amazing, friendly, and caring. The rooms are clean and very nice. You can join dinner on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday, and it's well worth the price. Breakfast is the same each day: two homemade marmalades, two honeys, some meat and cheese, fresh fruit from their garden, homemade yoghurt and a pancake, with muesli available too.

We felt at home right away in this guesthouse, which is lovely inside and out and perfect for a relaxing break. David and Carole gave us such a warm welcome, and David's cooking was excellent. We highly recommend staying here.

The location was incredible, and our stay was exceptional. We loved the studio's private jacuzzi and thought our host David was wonderful. The meals were divine, and breakfast on the sunny terrace was a real treat. Thanks, we'll be back!
