Camping La Croez Villieu

Nice facilities and friendly staff, with a good location.

At nearly €160 a night including sheets and cleaning, this was the most expensive place we stayed on our holiday, for a four-star campsite. We had to pay €150 for cleaning the cabin, which felt excessive for a three-night stay, especially since we hardly used the kitchen. The premium accommodation itself was nice, with a pleasant lounge and clean terrace, but showering was a struggle because the water swung between freezing and scalding. There was no washing machine in the cabin. We skipped the pool because it was absolutely packed, and I can only imagine how busy it gets in summer. The playground seemed tiny and not very appealing for children aged 6-10. It was meant to open at 9:00 AM, but once it still wasn't open at 9:30. Between the pool and playground, the campsite seems aimed more at little kids aged 2-6. It's also a bit remote, since you need a car even to get bread.

I came back for a second visit, four years after my first, and was just as happy with my stay. The staff were kind and helpful, and the campsite is a nice manageable size for families. I’d gladly return again :)

The lodge with its jacuzzi was fantastic, and we had a lovely stay. The staff at both reception and the bar made us feel very welcome. Wishing you a wonderful season, and see you soon!
