Le Montaigu

The people here are so friendly. My room was clean and spacious, breakfast was good, and Luz centre is close by.

We spent six days here as a family and had a lovely time in Pyrenees. The staff were warm and kind, and even though I don't speak French, we were able to communicate in English. The local food was tasty, with good French chefs, and the evening waiter suggested a nice wine like a sommelier. Our room was clean, comfortable, and had a good mattress. There are lots of Pyrenees paintings around the hotel, almost like a little gallery. I hope we can come back in winter. I recommend it!

The room had a good view and a small balcony that caught the late-day sun, and the location is peaceful while still close to town. But the rooms are very basic, with no kettle, and it got noisy when guests moved bikes and gear through the lift. The restaurant felt like a canteen for big groups, with no atmosphere. The food was hit and miss, including a faux filet that was inedible. Decaf was just a Nescafe sachet with hot water. We skipped breakfast and didn't try dinner again. There are plenty of other places in town. Overall, a disappointing stay.

We had a really enjoyable family stay in August. The staff deserve five hearts for how friendly and helpful they were. At dinner, they thoughtfully adjusted the infants' meals to suit their tastes. They also laid on an early breakfast at 5:30 and extra pasta the night before for all the Marmotte riders, which we really appreciated. We'd return to Hotel Montaigue without hesitation.
