Breakfast was a real highlight: Michele brought out something homemade each morning, alongside excellent preserves, fresh baguette, yoghurt and apricots picked that day. The bedrooms were beautifully presented, and the hosts made us feel very welcome. Demeure Saint Vincent has a lot of character, from its naturally weathered blue shutters to the cool, atmospheric interior and roomy tiled hall. The garden was quiet and green, and the two family dogs were calm. Estagel centre got loud on Friday and Saturday nights, which disturbed our sleep a little. The place is also a bit shabby in a way that may not suit everyone. We’d stay again.

Michèle was so pleasant and accommodating when we came as a family of five with our dog and baby. Her suggestions for seeing the region helped us steer clear of possible problems. The house was a lovely place to spend time, with spacious rooms, and breakfast came in generous portions with plenty of variety. We had a wonderful stay at Maison Saint Vincent. Thanks again!

Breakfast changed each morning during our three-night stay, and the kids especially liked the homemade “Nutella” spread. We were completely happy with the stay. The welcome was warm and everyone very friendly. The decor is definitely old-fashioned, but for me that’s part of the charm of a bed and breakfast, it feels closer to local life and less fussy.

Our expectations were met. The welcome was very friendly, and breakfast was hearty. The guesthouse was a pleasant place to stay, in a beautiful residence with oversized rooms. It’s right in the centre of Estagel, on a quiet street.

The house itself is magnificent, but inside it was a huge letdown. There were cobwebs throughout, including in the dining room, bedrooms and on the stairs, and the general cleanliness felt questionable. Paint was peeling all over, there were damp marks on the ceilings, and the bathroom wiring seemed substandard. The place clearly needs maintenance, and there was a musty, dusty smell as soon as we walked in. The towels were faded and very rough, and the breakfast setup felt out of place: it was served in a lovely dining room, but with cobwebs overhead and food laid out on an oilcloth. For a residence that presents itself as refined, that felt like a real lapse in taste. At this price, it offers poor value and doesn’t deserve four stars. Very disappointing.
