Loire Valley Lodges - Hotel

Check-in and departure got pretty backed up because the front-of-house team was so busy, and service was a little uneven, though pleasant. We’d booked dinner, bed and breakfast, only to learn on arrival that the main restaurant was full. The Lebanese-themed bistro had a very pleasant outdoor area, but our meal was indifferent. The spinach parcels were barely cooked, yet we were charged for all of them. The overall concept and much of its execution are excellent.

For a real break from everyday life and a chance to reconnect with nature, this place is highly recommended. After the drive through dense forest, a cosy, charming, farm-like hotel appears. The receptionist gave us a briefing, a flashlight, and a walkie-talkie before we headed to our completely secluded lodge, four metres up. It had a sauna, jacuzzi, and huge window looking straight into the trees. A breakfast basket full of delicious things arrived in the morning, and that evening the young chefs served their dishes with big smiles and explanations. I loved the calm, warm welcome, and thoughtful touches from the caring owners.

The one thing I’d change is that the lodge should have been heated before we arrived. We would have enjoyed the couples’ massage more if it hadn’t been cold. Still, the massage itself was amazing, and we felt so good afterwards that we didn’t want to head out for dinner. We ate in the lodge instead, and the meal was excellent and generous. The hot tub was ready for us to use, too. We came hoping for an uninterrupted, relaxed weekend together, and Loire Valley Lodges exceeded what we’d imagined. The team welcomed us and explained the grounds, and our cosy private lodge was tucked away high among the forest trees. It really gives you everything you need for quality time in nature. We’ll be back.

The breakfast basket delivered to our little lodge felt like a dream, especially the warm milk, lovely tea, and the best croissant-like pastry I can remember. The staff were so helpful and accommodating, and we also had fantastic wines with food that was thoughtful, unusual, and delicious. Our own jacuzzi and sauna made for a real treat in private. The lodge design is gorgeous, with a huge window for looking into the forest; the way the lodges are positioned still lets you feel secluded. They also provide a great selection of treats and useful things for the stay. It’s a spellbinding mix of luxury, privacy, thoughtful design, and nature. We’ve never stayed anywhere quite like it.
