The real highlight was how welcome we felt. Juilien and Alizée made us and our puppy, Luca, feel like part of the family, and we felt at home throughout our wonderful week at Les Tilleuls in early April. The house and gardens are gorgeous, with a serene setting a short walk from the touristy waterfront. The amenities are excellent, and Juilien and Alizée take great care of the property and their guests. Julien’s cooking was the other big surprise. We hadn't realized when booking that Juilien is a Mechlin-starred chef. We ended up on a culinary adventure every night, and each dinner became a highlight of our Normandy trip. An absolute gem. If you want a unique, memorable stay, skip the worn-out tourist traps and stay here.

We felt like we were visiting a great friend's coastal country retreat, thanks to David, an absolute legend as a host. He cooked while we sat around the kitchen island, and the food was at five-star restaurant standard. The wines were amazing too, and the cheese came from an exclusive cheesemonger. The house and rooms are beautiful, stylish, elegant and contemporary, all blended together with a careful eye. The Etretat cliffs and gardens are a must-see. With only five rooms, which are often fully booked, this was a travel highlight in 35 years of travelling. Superb.

We only stayed one night and regretted not having more time to enjoy the private cinema, wine cellar and beautiful garden. The a la carte breakfast was very good, with fresh local products. The almost 300-year-old private mansion has been restored with great care and beauty, and our stay was very comfortable. Les Tilleuls is central, close to the famous beach and the centre of the small village Etratat, yet it feels quiet and private. Private parking is a plus. The host was very kind and made our late check-in easy. She made us feel welcome. Les Tilleuls Etretat is a perfect place for a relaxed stay, and hopefully next time we'll stay a few days.

Les Tilleuls 1738 made for a relaxing, enjoyable stay. The high-end accommodation felt like home thanks to the host's effort, friendliness and exceptional cooking. That turned our long weekend into our best one in France so far. Etretat is a really picturesque seaside town, and Les Tilleuls 1738 is the place to stay for a great weekend there.
