Maison Nº 20

The apartment was only about a two-minute walk from the town centre. It was clean and comfortable, with English channels on the TV. Each morning there was a basket of bread and croissants, and milk and juice were waiting in the fridge. Leanne had also written down places to visit and restaurants to try, and even left a basket for a day at the market. Such thoughtful attention to detail. We really liked the apartment.

Maison 20 is quiet despite being so central, and it’s beautifully decorated with everything we needed. Leeann was accommodating and helpful, and her baking was fantastic. I had a lovely stay and would highly recommend it in Eymet. Thanks, Leeann and Guy.

We spent ten days in Eymet at Maison No 20, Rue Traversiere, a charming stone townhouse in the village centre. Each morning we woke in the top-floor apartment to sunshine, with warm croissants and pastries at the door. LeAnn Hawke and Guy Dal Ben were wonderful hosts, and LeeAnn’s attention to detail and local guidance made a real difference to our trip. We expected the food to be good, but the quality of the wine at such modest prices was a surprise. The Dordogne itself is full of medieval chateaus and beautiful countryside. Beynac and La Roque Gageac, along the river, were the most picturesque villages for us. From Marqueyssac Les Jardins above Beynac, the views over chateaus, vineyards, orchards, and little farms were breathtaking. We couldn’t stop taking photos. Eleanor of Aquitaine loved the area, and perhaps that affection passed on to the English. Some eight hundred years later, the place still feels medieval, with modern conveniences.

We first stayed with Leanne and Guy at their previous place, and we’ve stayed friends for years since. They’re excellent hosts and run a fantastic Bed and Breakfast.
