The old sofa bed was propped up with a pile of magazines. The owners were friendly, though they weren’t always quick to answer the phone. Also check the extra fees carefully: there may be charges for another person, towels, sheets, or cleaning, and they aren’t always shown on Booking.com. The photos there show several places to stay, but not the cottage we actually got.

We were welcomed so warmly by the kind hosts, and the service was excellent. The room felt really cozy, and we had everything we needed. The place itself is beautiful and full of history, with a big garden. Hiking trails are nearby too ✨

The fog was incredibly thick when we visited in autumn, which was the one letdown. We’ll come back in spring, for the region and for the family running the guesthouse. It’s a great spot for hiking, and the area deserves a visit. The couple who run the B&B are so kind. He cooked us a meal from appetizer to dessert that felt at home in a gourmet restaurant, and charged a very reasonable price. She knows and loves the region, and gave us excellent advice.

The roosters were crowing loudly from 4:00 AM, and there were extra charges for linens and cleaning. The hosts were very friendly, but they know what they’re doing. Booking.com and most of the other platforms are impossible to reach, of course. They draw you in with lovely photos, then you arrive at a remote cottage with questionable decor and an awful exterior strewn with discarded materials. I didn’t think people still operated this way. Places like this are killing local tourism.
