An unusual, quirky place, with a fantastic dinner and really friendly staff.

I didn’t feel this place was welcoming to LGBT people.

We loved the time we spent with Christine and Marc, and those dinners among the stone and the lovely view became some of our favorite memories. We’d come on a summer holiday in 2024 with our two young sons, and ended up extending our stay at this beautiful estate. It felt like much more than a hotel. We also watched the goats being milked and went to see the horses. Some people might read the owners as distant, but we took that as honesty and authenticity, and appreciated it. Thanks for having us. We hope to return to Réunion.

The pool looks out over a stunning view, but it’s unheated, with no parasols and worn sun loungers. Cleanliness was also disappointing, with cobwebs and dirty windows. There were no locks on the bedroom doors, and at night we could hear mice chewing the wood above the bed in the false ceiling. We refused to sleep in that room. The owner didn’t take that well, and his wife eventually moved us to another room, though she didn’t seem pleased. A simple apology and assurance they’d look into it would have been enough. It’s a magnificent estate with guest rooms, a vineyard, a cheese dairy, and dried meat production, but the stay was a letdown. We weren’t welcomed or given any explanation. The owner seemed unwilling to host us, and his few comments were mocking and inappropriate toward other guests. He also seemed to know little about the property or its offerings. For the price, we expected a welcome drink from the estate, but were given only water. The restaurant was very good and the setting beautiful, though the menu was limited to two choices. Breakfast was served indoors, which was a shame given the view, while the owner hosed down the windows and paths during mealtimes. We won’t be back.
