Cabane L'Orée des Bornes

There was no Wi-Fi, and the washing machine's rubber seal was covered in mold. The owners said there was a pool, but we could only use it when they were home; otherwise, they wouldn't let us in. The cabin was small, with an indecent garden and a lake full of green mold.

It's a friendly little place, remote and surrounded by greenery. The studio was practical and had everything we needed, and the bedding was really great. The pool was spotless. A few things let it down: the curtains didn't block the light, the shower curtain was moldy along the bottom, and the solid hand soap had already been used.

The Plateau des Bornes is a beautiful spot between Annecy and Geneva, with an authentic Savoyard feel. We spent Pentecost weekend in 2019 there with cousins and friends, 18 of us in all, staying across the house, gîte and tree house of Béatrice and Didier. It was magical: a warm welcome, charm, cleanliness, quiet, and hearty breakfasts, all in harmony. I'd recommend it without hesitation.

The owners gave us excellent tips for visits and restaurants, which saved us a lot of time. Breakfast was generous and varied, with delicious homemade products. The peaceful setting let us follow Covid-19 rules while enjoying the garden and pool.
