The staff were friendly and the hotel was clean, but we were disappointed after reading all the good reviews. We booked to use the pool, only to find it wasn’t open. We also asked if we could sunbathe for a few hours the next morning and weren’t allowed to. Fleurie is a 15-minute walk away, and the recommended restaurant was very average. The hotel feels old and dated. We made the best of it, but wouldn’t return.

Breakfast had a very good choice for different tastes, and the freshly made crepes were a nice touch. We also liked sitting in the outdoor area. Our “confort Supérieure” room was clean and comfortable, and good value. We had a very good experience at Hotel des Grands Vins and hope to return for a longer stay.

The wine tasting was superb, and the hotel sits among the Beaujolais vineyards, with a lovely garden, terrace and swimming pool. There’s free wifi and parking in front of the hotel. It’s an easy walk to Fleurie, where there are nice restaurants and a cave coop. The hosts were nice, breakfast was good, and the beds were very comfortable. The rooms are pleasant, though a bit small.

We’re from the USA, and the owner spoke very little English, so he asked another guest to help us. We asked about restaurants, then stayed in because of the storms. We later saw quite a few guests had food delivered from a local restaurant and ate together in the dining room. We hadn’t known that was an option. The wifi kept cutting in and out during our stay. Their system is rather complicated, and you need a separate access code for every device.

This was our third visit to the lovely hotel, and we plan to come back next year. The rooms have what you need, including a fridge, and the pool is lovely. Breakfast was excellent, and the hotel has a great atmosphere. Very comfortable stay, highly recommend.
