Hôtel des Gorges du Tarn

We had a wonderful 4 day stay in this beautiful hotel in a quiet area. The bed was really comfortable, and the Table d'hote was fantastic. We ate there 3 nights, and each time the food was delicious and beautifully presented. The wait staff were attentive too.

The building itself is the one unimpressive part. The rooms, on the other hand, are very clean and quiet. Dinner was incredible, with lots of choices, including things you don't often find. I loved the souris d'agneau, and everything else was delicious too. The staff were very nice, and the chef came out to say hi. It's on the fancy side, but worth the price, which is nowhere near big-city levels.

Florac is a handy base for planning trips around the Cevennes, and this place is conveniently located in the village. It was clean, up to date and welcoming, with a spacious, very comfortable room. I really enjoyed staying here and would gladly return with my family. The main thing missing was AC. It gets hot in summer, and while it wasn't unbearable, I expected AC at this kind of place. Breakfast was also expensive for what they offered.

The restaurant served good food, though the drinks felt a bit pricey. The hotel was clean and modern, but a little outside town. Our room was hot, and the effort to seem more than a three-star place left it feeling unfriendly.
