Sebastian, the manager, was attentive to everyone's needs, and the staff were kind and helpful. The kids loved the pool, which was a bit cold on day one but warmer the next. We also enjoyed the good food, especially the best veggie burger I've had in years, and the fireplace area and kids area worked perfectly for us. We stayed for four nights over Easter with our two little kids and loved the place. The views from our room and balcony were incredible. Some areas and rooms are dated, but the price, location and views made it well worth it. If you want one of the updated rooms, you have to book it and pay more. We'd definitely come back.

The staff were lovely, and their warm welcome and ride to Le Train Jaune station were much appreciated. Our room, 404, was a real disappointment. The photo on Booking showed a renovated room with big sliding doors and a large balcony, but ours was drab, dark and poorly furnished and arranged. Its sliding door was half the size, and from the bed there was no way to look out at the glorious view. There weren't any comfortable chairs by the door either. I left feeling our two nights had been a mistake because the room was so unappealing.

We booked one night for my mom's birthday and really enjoyed the stay. The rooms were cozy, and the staff and dinner were lovely too. Breakfast was the one small letdown. We'd happily come back.

We chose this hotel specifically for the advertised heated indoor pool, which mattered because we were traveling with a toddler while it was snowing outside. On arrival, we were told the heater was broken but would be fixed the next day. When we asked again, staff first said it would be working in two hours, then told us it wouldn't be fixed at all. We got no compensation or discount, even though the pool was the main reason for booking, and the reception staff member was incredibly rude when we asked about it. The room looked nothing like the photos, it was old, tacky and uncomfortable. The hall carpets were stained and smelled of cigarettes. It felt like a big rip-off. I wouldn't recommend staying here if you care about honest communication or customer service.

We stopped by for a drink and the view on a beautifully sunny day in early September, without staying at the hotel. The reception gentleman welcomed us warmly even after we said we were just there for refreshments. From the bar, restaurant and terrace, there are great views across the valley to distant mountains, including a solar furnace development. We had the terrace to ourselves and enjoyed a cold beer. We could see the roof of the swimming pool below and hear an aquarobics class. The open fireplace you can walk around would make the hotel a perfect place to relax during ski season. As we left, three staff were having lunch in the restaurant, and it smelled wonderful. The lunch made me think it could be a great place to eat. All the staff were super friendly and said goodbye, so I'd come back for a drink or meal if I visit Font Romeu again. I'd also consider staying there because of how good the staff were.
