The room was delightful, huge, and tastefully decorated, with a massive shower. There was room for both a shower and a bath, so perhaps adding a bath is in their plans. The garden was lovely, and there are three cats that sleep on sheepskins in the lounge. We got there mid-afternoon and rang the bell, but no one answered. Luckily another guest was leaving, so we got through the metal doors. We knew our room's name, and its key was in the door, which let us get in and settle ourselves. Breakfast costs extra: €7 for continental or €12 per person for eggs and so on. The note said this is done so the room rate ranks lower on hotel booking sites. Roadside parking can be hit or miss.

The Family Suite was well placed for walking around town and to the chateau, and check-in and checkout went smoothly. We stayed two nights. The bathroom door has a strange handle that can trap your fingers when you close it and try to open it. It happened to both my wife and me, so it wasn't just that we hadn't worked out how to use it. We weren't warned about the cats roaming through the house. If either of us had allergies, that would have been a real problem. One cat climbed up to our second-floor window, and we had to close it because the owners had specifically asked us not to let cats into the room. The pool costs €30 an hour for two people, and I can see why I didn't see any guests using it during our two days there. I've updated this with some corrected details. The tone of the owner's response below says a lot about the customer service. I took off one star for the cats and another for the bathroom door safety issue.

It's tucked behind a big gate, which opens onto a peaceful garden with the accommodation around it. The B&B is very quiet, and both the chateau and town centre are an easy walk away. The host was charming.

A cozy, nicely furnished place that's really quiet and well organized. Just pay close attention to the check-in instructions. If you end up locked out with your luggage, there's not much to do in the area while you wait.

I spent 19 nights here and loved how peaceful it was the whole time. If you're after a quiet stay in Fontainebleau, I'd recommend this place.
