Nemea Les Chalets des Cimes

We rented a small unit through Airbnb, unit 2A. The hosts tried to charge me a $170 extra cleaning fee even though we left the apartment in better shape than we found it, and there were no instructions anywhere. They were dishonest and made all sorts of false accusations to get extra money. Bring your own bedsheets, towels, soap, dish soap, toilet paper, and so on, because none of that was there when we arrived. Also, don’t expect hot water for the first 4-6 hours: the pipes are shut and the water is off during winter. Awful experience. Go somewhere else.

We stayed at Les Chalets des Cimes in La Toussuire during the first week of 2017. We didn’t expect much from French holiday accommodation, and the place met those expectations. The apartment was clean enough, the kitchen and bathroom equipment all worked, and the heating worked well enough too. When we asked, staff quickly fixed small problems like a broken door handle, blown light bulbs, and a leaking bathroom sink. The staff were friendly, and one woman even spoke English. A couple of changes would help. The description for the one-bedroom apartment for four should say it’s really only suitable for two adults and two children. The bunk bed in the bedroom is only for kids under six. Luckily, there were only two adults in our apartment. More hooks on the walls for private clothes would be useful, too. Since we couldn’t use the bedroom as a bedroom because we’re older than six, we used it as a wardrobe, but I can’t imagine where a family of four would put their ski clothes.

There was lots of space, and the private indoor pool and sauna were excellent. A great place.
