Breakfast had lots of choice for different tastes, and the staff were really friendly. The restaurant was lovely and up to a very high standard too. Our hotel stay was perfect for us, with clean rooms and a lovely, clean pool area. A fridge in the room would have been nice, though. I’d especially like to thank Vanessa for her help when she called the chill out restaurant.

We ate in the restaurant both nights, and the food and service were excellent. The bathroom was also excellent, with a large shower, and everything was spotlessly clean. The room was comfortable, though the lighting wasn’t good for reading. A previous guest had spilled coffee on the beige carpet just inside the room, and it really stood out. The hotel is in a great spot just outside the town centre, so it’s very peaceful, with loads of parking. The garden and pool area look inviting for summer. In general, we were happy with our stay at the Rabelais. The one letdown was the unfriendly reception staff. They need customer service training.

We’d happily stay here again if we were passing through. The rooms were clean and laid out well, and everyone on staff was friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious, beautifully presented and came with a good choice of options. The wine was excellent, with a brilliant selection. A really lovely stay.

We stayed again last night, after overnight visits in the summers of 2009 and 2014, and the hotel still keeps its high standards. It was January, so there was no pool, but we played ping pong and used the sauna. The beds were very comfortable and the food fantastic. On our earlier stays, our two children and we had thoroughly enjoyed the hotel, swimming pool, ping pong and restaurant.
