B&B HOTEL Fort de France

The receptionist is a sweetheart, and some of the staff were genuinely kind and friendly. Others didn't seem to make much effort, and the food was mediocre. The cocktails were so sweet they felt like they could make your teeth fall out. Our room was very basic, worn, and only almost clean. The curtains looked shabby, and mold was starting in the bathroom corners. The corridor on our floor smelled awful, even for someone like me with a poor sense of smell. My guess is it might suit relatively young people looking for a short stay near the airport, or something like that. I wouldn't recommend it for other purposes.

The hotel itself is good, but breakfast costs a bit much and there's not much of interest around it.

The hotel and its rooms are beautiful, and the staff are nice. There's an infinity pool that seems to disappear into the ocean. But transport and food were a real problem for me: there isn't anything within walking distance, and taxis can be unreliable. Once I called and was told there were no cabs, and to try again in two hours. The restaurant is only open at limited times and may be full anyway. One night I couldn't find food anywhere and went hungry. I don't have other Caribbean hotel stays to compare, but this cost about three times what I'd pay in the States. I'd recently stayed at a nice hotel across from the harbor in San Diego for a third of the price. Maybe we're spoiled, but bring plenty of money if you're traveling internationally.

A great little place, with spacious rooms, good air conditioning, and comfortable beds and pillows. The facilities are very good, and there's a lovely infinity pool that's fine for kids. At the bottom of the hill, just a minute away, there's a small public cove beach with crystal clear water. Breakfast is simple but nicely varied, and fantastic. Top marks.
