Hotel Restaurant Calypso

The beach is only a one-minute walk away, and it's wide, clean, and free. The water was great for swimming and stayed fairly shallow. Service was friendly and helpful. My room was cozy and clean, though not very spacious. It had a TV, fridge, and private bathroom with a shower. I'd recommend it to people looking for a quiet, reasonably priced beach stay who don't need much.

The building is a little dated, but everything worked fine for us. We ate really well at the restaurant, the waitress was pleasant, and breakfast was generous. Prices for both the stay and the restaurant were very reasonable. We arrived early to pick up the key, so the cool welcome at first was our own fault. There was karaoke that night and some noise, but I still slept well. Thank you.

I honestly don't know what to call this place, surreal maybe, even lunar. We arrived to find nobody there, called the number on the door, and got a callback about ten minutes later with a code for the key box. My room's shutter was broken, apparently for over two years according to older online reviews. The bathroom shower door was broken and propped upright in the tray. When I called, they said the shutter needed repair and told me to close the curtains; they said someone would come fix the shower, but no one ever showed. The three towels were badly worn. The WiFi code didn't work, so there was no internet, and I had to unplug the mini-fridge because it was incredibly loud. Breakfast was supposedly included, but service started at 10 am. I can only laugh, I have no words. We ate at the restaurant downstairs, where the waitress was kind and competent. She seemed upset by the comments she was going to receive. We'll report this to management. They gave us the next morning's breakfast packed up with coffee pods. We'll ask to cancel and refund breakfast for the remaining days. This place should be avoided.
