We booked an apartment for one night during high season at very short notice, on a whim. The building looks a little dated and run-down, though I suppose that's what comes with older properties. It was 220 Euros for the night, and the experience wasn't great. We gave it 2.5 stars, rounded down to 2 because the receptionist had already left before checkout. The listed check-in was 1700-1800 hrs, which felt late, though it didn't affect us since we spent the day at the beach. Reception staff weren't especially invested in the job, but they weren't rude or impolite. Switching to English when our French got difficult was no problem. Checkout was listed as 0900-1000 hrs, also a tight window compared with the usual 1100. We were ready at 09:45, but the man at reception had already gone, so we put the keys in the letterbox. That would be unheard of in Switzerland, though I guess the French do things their own way. The apartment was very hot, with few ways to air or cool it unless you left the windows open onto the gallery while sleeping, which we didn't want to do. The beds weren't made, so we had to make them ourselves. One balcony chair was broken, the dishes were dirty and we washed every one before using it, and the furniture felt flimsy. The beds themselves were okay. There was a free garage for the car, the areas around the apartment were well cleaned, and the location was fine, within walking distance of just about anything. For a longer stay, or if cleanliness matters a lot to you, I'd pay a bit more for a more pleasant experience.
