Hotel F1 Merlebach Saarbrück

There was cigarette smoke lingering in the room, and the bathroom and bedroom sink smelled of urine. The place felt generally unclean and sketchy, with doors left open so anyone could come and go. Staff had personal meetups with friends at work and talked loudly in a language that wasn't French. Parking was unprotected, and even our premium room had no air conditioning.

We booked through booking.com, but there was nobody at the desk when we arrived. When someone finally came to help, they seemed busy sorting something out and didn't apologize or tell us how long we'd have to wait. The place felt strange and uncomfortable, not welcoming at all. We stood there another 30-40 minutes with no further information, then left to find somewhere else for the night. I wouldn't recommend it. The place needs a lot of work before it could even qualify as a hostel, and the staff could be much more understanding and helpful. We should have read people's reviews before booking. Awful place, wish I could give zero stars.

We ended up leaving and finding somewhere else to sleep, the whole stay was that bad. The hotel felt sketchy and especially uncomfortable as a woman. Middle-aged men stared at me, it looked nothing like the photos, and most things were broken or dirty. The staff were rude and seemed not to care. Nobody was at the front desk when we arrived, despite the claimed 24-hour service. When someone eventually showed up, computer issues kept us from checking in for hours. We stood in 30°C heat without an explanation or apology. A total joke of a hotel. Avoid it at all costs.

We arrived Friday after 9 pm to get into our booked room, but the reception was closed. The automatic late check-in system didn't work, and nobody answered the emergency number on the door. The phone number listed online didn't exist either. We had to find another hotel.
