Appartements Candella

We spent a week here as a family. The setting is lovely, with mountain views, and there’s plenty of parking. Each apartment has its own gas BBQ, and the kitchen is practical and well equipped, including a dishwasher and washing machine. The layout is simple and functional rather than particularly cozy. The apartment has a living room/kitchen and two bedrooms, and everything was clean. There’s just one air conditioner for the whole place, so the bedrooms get much too hot if you close the doors. The pool is on the small side, and when it’s busy there aren’t enough chairs for everyone. Keep that in mind if you expect to spend lots of time poolside. The apartments are arranged in a row, with a walkway past all the terraces.

September was peaceful, and the pool was nice, though not very big. The cottages were clean, well kept, practical and well equipped. The staff were professional. My only small gripe was that the bedding was too soft for me.

You’ll need to drive a fair way to reach Corsica’s beautiful beaches, which is why I’m taking off one star. Calvi, the nearest, is 30 minutes away. The accommodation is well equipped, and the pool is lovely. The owners made us feel very welcome. It’s good value in the mountains and close to the Fango River, a beautiful place for walks and swimming.

We stayed in apartment 19, a spotless cottage with three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and toilet. It’s a very peaceful spot, with mountains on one side and the sea about 7 km from Galéria. There’s a heated pool, and the location is excellent. The owner also has a restaurant about 1.8 km away, and it’s very good, definitely recommend it. A note for motorcyclists: the gravel parking is slippery. We managed to park our bikes, but had to be very careful. I mentioned it to the owner, who said they might put in a concrete slab for motorcycle parking. We’ll see. Michel
