You’ll need a car here, but Gassin is right on the doorstep of St.Tropez, and it took us seven minutes to reach Place des Lices in the heart of town without traffic. For the price, this is a charming and affordable option. Rooms book quickly, so reserve well ahead. After a substantial upgrade, the five guest rooms now have full ensuite bathrooms. There are also two apartments. Frau Ingrid provides personal service and keeps everything spotless around the clock. The five guest rooms share a dedicated kitchen, and the big rooftop terrace looks out over the whole coast. Rooms 3 and 4 have their own terraces too, with tables, chairs, and views of the Mediterranean. The one thing still missing is air conditioning, which may be added someday. At this price, though, you can’t expect everything.

The view was lovely, but little else worked for us. The rooms were old, with worn furnishings, and being south-facing with only a small fan made them feel like a sauna during our stay. Nearby construction brought noise and dust, and a truck damaged our car. The listing said parking was available in the adjacent space. Instead, we were left looking for a spot on a narrow street. One evening we spent half an hour searching within a 2 km radius. A neighbor said parking had been a problem for her and the owner’s guests for several years. We left the next day. The owner refused to refund us and still blamed us, then changed the accommodation description after the incident.

It’s not fancy, but it has a lot of common sense. Go there! Mers. Ingrid is a super cool owner!
