Maison d'Hôtes L'Arbre Rouge

We didn't know this area very well before, but it turned out to be a handy base for all kinds of outings. Bordeaux and St Emilion are an easy drive, and you can also make day trips to the Atlantic dunes and beaches or the picturesque upper Dordogne. We spent a wonderful 8 days at L'Arbre Rouge on the Dordogne. The river views are breathtaking, and we loved taking it easy in the grounds overlooking the water. It felt like a home away from home. Sabine, who looked after us so well, and the rest of the staff were so friendly and helpful. Sabine encouraged us to make ourselves at home, use the cooking facilities and BBQ, and eat outside on the terrace with a bottle of wine. The facilities were excellent: lovely large bedrooms, a pool, a jacuzzi, plenty of boardgames, and even a snooker table.
