For a special occasion, or just to treat yourselves on holiday like we did, this fine dining place is a great choice. We loved it and will be back next time we’re in the region. The passionate owner cooks and serves everything himself in his stunning bijou living and dining room, talking you through the process as he goes. He says he isn’t a true chef, but he’s an amazing butcher and cook. The experience is very French and highly carnivorous, so don’t come expecting vegetarian food. He serves only the best beef, pork and veal, with a choice of beef and veal cuts. The small menu isn’t cheap, and the restaurant is open just a couple of hours a day, five evenings a week, so booking is recommended. The local regional wines are organic and delicious, and the homemade terrine starter is unique and impressive. If you want the incredible Cochon, a French hog roast, the host needs at least a day’s notice and a booking for four people minimum. The more the merrier.

The setting was calm and pleasant, just right for resting. We booked two rooms, and both were very clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The hostess gave us a warm welcome and was attentive throughout our stay. Breakfast was also very good, with quality ingredients. We’d happily recommend this guesthouse and would love to return.

We’ll definitely return for a fourth visit. This was my third stay at Villa Chanelle, and it’s always a pleasure to spend an evening there. The atmosphere is wonderful, and the rooms are very comfortable with a superb view of the Loire. The table d'hôtes is a real treat, made with fresh, local ingredients.

A unique setting and a really welcoming atmosphere. If you love REAL meat, this is the spot, and the wines are good too. Excellent value for money. I’ll definitely come back.
