ibis Paris Gennevilliers

Awful customer service, rude staff, zero commission and fraud. A really bad experience. I’d rather sleep on the street than stay there.

It was our first time in Gennevilliers, and the area surprised us by being quiet and residential. The metro is a few minutes from the hotel, and the huge Carrefour is less than a minute away. Our room had recently been renovated, with a new air-conditioning system that kept it cool despite the +35 degrees Celsius heat outside. We could adjust the fresh air with a one-touch digital control on the wall. The big-screen TV was great for watching the Olympics, and the bathroom had liquid body and hair products in the shower plus a hairdryer. When we returned from the hospital, the room was immaculate, thanks to Louis’s attention to detail. We had a medical emergency during our Paris visit, and the manager, Louis, went well beyond what was needed. He helped us get medical care and translated from French for us. His concern made a stressful situation much easier. From the first contact at check-in, everyone was warm and kind. The staff really put their heart into making guests feel welcome, so this felt like more than an ordinary chain hotel. We loved our stay and would highly recommend the Ibis Paris Gennevilliers.

The woman who checked us in was lovely and very helpful, but the stay after that was seriously lacking. Our room was sweltering when we walked in. We were told the heat was fully central, so the only option was switching off the thermostat and opening the window. It only opened a sliver, which barely helped. The Accor Hotels app had said the room was fully air-conditioned when we booked. There were two beds for the two of us, but the room came with just one towel and one spare pillow. We asked for more the first night, but the towel problem continued throughout the stay. Breakfast was good, but very limited, with eggs as the only hot option. One last thing, the housekeeper took the shoelaces I’d just replaced on my shoes. Who takes someone’s shoelaces?

Reception staff were supportive and friendly, a real pleasure to deal with. The breakfast was delicious, with a good range of tasty French options and plenty of good coffee and tea. The hotel is in a green, friendly neighborhood, 500 meters from Les Agnettes metro station. It’s about a 30-minute ride to downtown, to Champs Elysees Clemenceau station. The rooms have been renovated recently and still smell newly painted. I know where I’ll stay on my next Paris visit. Thank you!
