Hôtel Beau Rivage

We spent three nights at Hotel Beau Rivage and really enjoyed the staff, the food, and the room, view, pool, and spa. Breakfast was tasty and made there. I’m already looking forward to coming back. Two things could be better: the breakfast could have had more variety, especially some vegetables, and the internet was very poor in our room. I booked months ahead because I wanted a hotel with a spa near the lake. The hotel is right at the edge of Gerardmer Lake, easy to find, and within walking distance of shops, restaurants, and other places of interest. By car, you can quickly get to the waterfalls of Tendon, Equi'val, the village of Tholy, Confiserie Geromoise, bed linen manufacturers, a gas station, and supermarkets. We chose a room with a stunning lake and mountain view. Rooms are cozy and may or may not have a lake view. Ours had a small fridge, kettle, shower, toilet, and balcony, and there were water dispensers in the hallways. There’s private parking and a heated pool. The hotel gives you a card holder with your room access card, internet password, and the code for entering after 23:00. The spa, with sauna, hamam, and jacuzzi, costs extra and needs to be booked. Massages and beauty treatments are available through an outside provider. Breakfast is also an extra charge. We ate dinner at the restaurant Cote Lac on two nights, and the menu was in our room. Any services you choose are paid for at the end of your stay. The staff were respectful, welcoming, helpful, and always at reception if we had a question or needed information.

The ambience and cocktail were fantastic, and the service was otherwise great. But the waitress brought the bill with our first order without us asking. I don’t like being given the bill that way, and it put me off ordering again. We had planned to have dinner there, but changed our minds. The hotel should rethink that practice.

We enjoyed sitting in the garden with a book on a summer afternoon, looking out over the lake. It felt romantic. 😉 The hotel, close to the lake in Gérardmer, has spacious parking and a room that seemed recently renovated. Breakfast comes from a very complete buffet in a nice setting. It was a little too dark for summer, though it would probably feel cozy in winter.
