Le Manoir au Lac

The view from our room was incredible, and the lake is just a short, steep walk away. It's about a 15 minute walk into town along the path beside the lake. There's plenty of parking, with the option to use a garage. Dinner on the terrace was lovely, the food was very good, and the view was breathtaking. I slept in and missed breakfast, but the staff kindly brought me a coffee, pain au chocolat, and croissants. They were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. I'd come back next year.

The lake view was lovely, and we even got to watch the fireworks. We booked at the last minute and hesitated because the only room left was under the roof, but we ended up liking it. The hotel is well placed, with cozy decor, a very clean spa and a refined dinner. We had a great stay. Our room wasn't made up on the last day, though, and we didn't have enough toiletries. Apart from that, it deserves its stars, and we'd happily choose it again.

The staff looked after us really well throughout our stay, and it’s an easy ten-minute walk to the town center, shops and restaurants. We spent a couple of days at Manoir au Lac, including New Year's Eve. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet, and the New Year's Eve dinner at the restaurant was amazing. Breakfast was great too, especially with that view over the lake. A great address.

The park beside the hotel was lovely for a walk or a sit, and breakfast each morning came with a great view of the lake and the little boats setting out. We chose this place for a couple of quiet nights because it offered what we wanted in an area we hadn't visited before. The drive through the Vosges mountains was beautiful on a very sunny day. The hotel is nicely situated and easy to reach by regular car via several small streets. There's a small underground garage where bikes or skis can be kept. Staff were very friendly and did their best to make us comfortable. Our room was nice and everything worked, apart from a loose shower clamp that didn't really matter. We especially enjoyed the balcony view of the lake and hills. Guests can use the sauna and indoor pool during the day, though the pool closes quite early. It would have been great to swim or use the sauna after coming back in the evening, as at some other hotels. Cleanliness let things down. There was dust and cobwebs on several surfaces, and we had to clean the outdoor furniture before using it. That made me wonder about the hotel's attention to detail. The price compared with the overall condition also took away from the stay. I hope management considers these concerns and makes improvements, because a little effort could make the experience much more satisfying. In response to the hotel's reply, thanks for taking the time to address my review. I want to respond to the point about guests being responsible for reporting dust or faults. Guests should of course tell staff about concerns, but management also needs to check proactively that the property is maintained to the expected standard. It isn't only up to guests to point out every shortcoming. I expect a clean, comfortable place without having to identify each flaw myself. Blaming guests for not reporting problems right away, or saying they should have done so instead of mentioning them in a review, doesn't fit good hospitality practice. Reviews help future guests make informed choices and give hotels a chance to address problems and improve. That feedback loop benefits everyone. My intention wasn't to disparage the hotel, just to offer honest feedback that could help it improve. Hotels should be held accountable for maintaining their facilities and providing a high-quality experience. Thanks again for replying.
