Such a cozy, clean chalet, and the owner was really nice. I loved the place and would be happy to come back.

The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The place is well equipped and perfectly located, with excellent value for money. Definitely somewhere worth discovering.

The worst part came on Friday night, when the smell of human waste filled the chalet, reaching the bedrooms and toilet. By 1 a.m. we couldn't use the toilet, and the nausea and headaches lasted all night. A faint smell had been coming from the shower during the day, and at times a foul odor drifted over while we ate on the terrace. We reported it to the owner's son that morning. He apologized kindly, and we told him we would leave at noon that Friday instead of Saturday. We were in chalet E at Chalets des 5 Loups in Gerbepal from the 9th to the 15th, with my grandparents, my wife, and my 4-year-old son. We arrived around 4:30 pm on Saturday the 9th. You have to walk to the chalet from the access point, and there's no parking, but that wasn't a big issue. We were facing the pool, and the key was inside because the owner couldn't come out. The grounds were peaceful, with a 28-degree pool, a pétanque court, other amenities, and a nice little stream. A bit of upkeep and updating outside would help, though it was still in decent condition. Inside, our hopes quickly faded. The dining table had been patched with tape and a shim, the large shower head was broken, and so was the bin lid, which wasn't great for hand hygiene. The sofa was in bad shape, and the bed made from it was even worse. It felt like being tortured until we confessed to something. There's no need to comment on our size as you have done to others, we're within the average range. We read the arrival manual, but couldn't understand how to complete the requested checklist and inventory when nobody came by all week. I know you often say in replies that you renovate frequently, but these were the conditions we found. If earlier guests don't take care of the chalets, a deposit might make sense, and an inventory check is clearly important, though it seems to happen very rarely. We stayed and didn't cause any trouble. After we left early, we wondered when the inventory would be done, but nobody had left the keys in the chalet door. That surprised us again. We cleaned thoroughly, including under the sofa as requested, and cleaned the furniture, which I don't think is ever moved. We left it cleaner than we found it, and I have photos to show that, since I expect you'll deny it. We also emptied the vacuum cleaner, which I suspect hadn't been used since January. We won't return. It's disappointing for a chalet to have such questionable hygiene. Saying it's cheaper doesn't excuse receiving guests in these conditions. A proper inventory would have helped catch the problems. Your son was very kind and apologetic, and I thank him for that. As tourism professionals, you can expect both positive and negative reviews. Good Booking.com ratings don't put you above criticism or the need to meet basic standards. We stayed in chalet E, so I can't say whether the other chalets are better. They might be. Best regards.

There were five of us in chalet D for the weekend of August 31st, booked under my daughter-in-law's name. The place was lovely and we enjoyed a great family weekend. From what I saw, the chalet met expectations and was worth the price. The photos can be misleading, so the descriptions should say how large the chalets are. The exterior areas also need cleaning, with dilapidated sheds, litter, broken planters, and so on.

We had a lovely, peaceful weekend with friends, and the chalet was well equipped. The location is fantastic, but the exterior needs renovation. The pool wasn't working properly, and the wooden sun loungers were unusable, which was a shame because otherwise everything was perfect. To the owner: We didn't need to enter the enclosed area. It's across from the chalet, and a string doesn't block the view. The sun loungers, or bits of wood, aren't in the enclosed area either. Sir, you need to accept criticism if you want to improve instead of getting defensive every time someone comments.
