B&B Hotel Grenoble Université 2

The room was really good, and everyone working there made me feel welcome throughout my stay. It's also close to public transport and has a parking lot. Breakfast is the usual B&B style, but I think it could be better for the price.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the rooms, beds, and breakfast were passable, though nothing special. The problems were hard to overlook. Our first room had a strong smell, probably from dust, damp, and mold, and it was nearly impossible to stay in. We changed rooms, but the new one still smelled unpleasant, like urine, even with the windows open. The towels were visibly old and worn, and there was no toilet brush. There wasn't a cloth in the bread basket either, so guests had to handle the bread directly while slicing it. For the fairly high price, this Ibis fell short of what I'd expect and needs substantial renovation and better upkeep. I can't wholeheartedly recommend it.

The front desk person was very kind and spoke English and French really well. There were water dispensers on every floor, which was handy. But the room was much smaller than expected, with barely space to move around the double and single beds. It smelled bad, and when I opened the window to air it out, mosquitoes came in because there was no screen. There were hardly any outlets, just one in the bathroom and one more if you unplugged the TV.

There’s free coffee and tea at reception, plus a water dispenser on each floor, which are useful. Otherwise, this is the sort of business hotel you use to sleep and get back to work. I ended up here because most nearby places were booked, and it did the job for my tight schedule. The room's rate card still showed 2020. The air conditioner was so noisy that it seemed like the fan was broken. I didn't bother complaining, just switched it off and slept. Hopefully they fixed it later.
