Chateau de la Bastide

A peaceful, pleasant place to stay.

We had a great holiday here, my wife, our dog, and me. The hosts were lovely, and our room was spacious with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was fresh and excellent, and we ate it out on the sunny terrace.

The meals were excellent, and Romane gave us such a warm welcome. We had a wonderful time at Château de la Bastide, which is magnificent inside and out. With its historically fitting decor, it made us feel like princesses.

The village nearby is very pleasant, but we can’t comment on the rest of the château because we left the day after arriving. We’d booked by phone for two adults and our one-year-old, expecting a studio. Instead, we were given a cave-style apartment, and nobody had mentioned that when we booked. The main room had no windows and got only a little light through the door. There was a constant damp, musty smell that clung to our belongings. The adjoining room, supposedly for a child, was very cramped and hardly suitable for a stay with one: you had to duck to get in, and it had just a small arrow slit for light. We were so disappointed that we cut the stay short, ending our vacation early. The owners were friendly, which makes it a shame, but this unusual kind of accommodation should be disclosed in advance.
