The building is lovely inside and out, but I wouldn't choose the cheapest rooms. There's a noticeable difference beyond just the room size. We had a couple of problems when we arrived, though the kind, caring staff sorted them out quickly. I was completely happy with how they handled it, and we had a very nice stay in this beautiful town, surrounded by gorgeous scenery and historic sites.

The Cocotte de Rocamadour was an excellent start. I followed it with the Demi Magret, salad and potatoes cooked in duck fat with garlic, and it was magnificent. My companion chose the same starter and then had the Piece de boeuf. The staff were lively, attentive and knew the menu well, which focused nicely on local ingredients and classic French food. With a quarter carafe of red, a moleu de chocolat and two coffees, we paid €72. A delightful evening, and we're already thinking about coming back.

We got there at 14:10, which is very bad form in France. The maitre d said yes, so we sat down, but we were steered toward the €40-per-person menu. When we chose from the regular menu instead, the waiter made us feel so unwelcome that I got angry. The food was actually nice, but the waiter needs to take his grievance somewhere else. It would have to be amazing food to turn that first impression around.

We only ate at the restaurant. The food was nice and the menu was good, though the service felt a little slow now and then.

The service was okay, but the beds were very soft and tiny. The place is quite old.
