The service at the restaurant was poor. We asked for a menu at 21:25, but nobody came. We waved to the waitress, who had forgotten us, and she brought it over. Two minutes later we were ready to order, but she returned a minute after that to say the kitchen was closed. You have to be kidding. That's no way to treat customers. Our double room had a small bed for two, and the headlight didn't work. The TV had French channels only, no international English ones. The room itself was clean, and the room service was good.

Don't mix up these two hotels, because what they offer is very different. Hotel Veleda is far more comfortable and welcoming, and its restaurant deserves an even higher rating. The meals there were incredibly good. Hotel du Donon wasn't great, even with the attempt to renovate it. The furniture is rustic, repainted, and not very appealing. The pool was in a surprising condition, with broken tiles and below average cleanliness. We even found two insects. Thankfully, management changed our room, and we're grateful for that.

The pool and sauna were a real bonus and felt great at the end of the day. Our room had plenty of space and beds, so it would work well for hiking groups. There wasn't a reception desk at this hotel, as service was handled next door. The restaurant here was closed, so we ate at the one in the neighboring hotel. They served hearty portions suited to hikers, triathletes, and weightlifters. I'd come back to explore more of the area.
