Le Moulin de Picaud

Fantastic place, quiet and clean, with beautiful surroundings and an amazing breakfast.

The Meulière room on the first floor was spacious, clean, nicely decorated, and had a small terrace. The pool was pleasant, cleaned regularly, and had loungers. We also found the location in Grans handy for exploring the region, with the motorway close by and Aix-en-Provence, Arles, Luberon, and Aigues-Mortes within reach. A supermarket in Salon-de-Provence is about 10 minutes away. The setup may feel a bit unsettling if you're used to a certain level of host service at a B&B, so I'd recommend it more to younger people. Eugeny prepares breakfast the day before and leaves everything in the fridge. It's nice not to have a set time to get up, and nobody is waiting on you, but it wasn't always clear from a hygiene point of view who was using what. The pastries were sometimes dry, and once there was too much bread. There's a shared summer kitchen with a fridge, coffee maker, and useful dishes for making meals. A cutting board, kitchen knives, oil, and condiments would have been handy. Eugeny's home is attached to the guesthouse and feels a bit like a house of happiness, with people coming and going, but it wasn't clear who was doing what or who could answer questions. Our host had a problem the day before we left, and we didn't see anyone when we departed. We wouldn't recommend the second-floor room in very hot weather. After talking with the other guests, it sounds like the heat there can be hard to bear. COVID-19 precautions were only partly followed, and there was no hand sanitizer. There were dogs and cats in the house. Orange coverage was almost nonexistent, though the Wi-Fi worked very well.

The owners are so kind, and the setting is a little green paradise beside the water, peaceful and relaxing. The room was comfortable and breakfast excellent. Definitely a place to remember and recommend.

The guest rooms at Le Moulin de Picaud have been there for less time, and they aren't owned by our family, who have lived at Le Moulin de Picaud since 1971. Still, it's a lovely, well-situated place where you can relax and recharge.
