Cowool Grenoble

We were there for the Magnus League Ice Hockey Finals, and it was really cool to watch the teams arrive at the rink from our back window. The sauna was wicked too. We didn’t have time to try the other facilities, though they looked really good. Awesome stay, recommend it.

I activated the 24-hour cancellation guarantee and left because the room was unsanitary and no weekend staff were available to deal with problems. I’d had high hopes. The place is stylish and has potential, but it has serious operational issues. The manager said, “I can confirm that the apartment was clean, but our carpet is old and can be stained, and the worktop also has stains embedded in the material. We obviously ironed the bugs and hair off the sheet.” The facility later suggested changing rooms might have solved it, while also admitting no staff would be available to do that. The manager claimed to have confirmed the room was clean, but the attached pictures of their “confirmed clean room” made me doubt another room would be any better. I left within 24 hours of arrival, following the stated guidelines, yet nearly a month later the manager charged me $1,500 for a month-long stay I hadn’t used. I had to get my credit card company involved to have it refunded. I’d be extremely cautious about booking here. It has potential if housekeeping operations improve and the unethical practice of constructive obstruction is addressed.

I’m still waiting for my refund. I booked through Hotels.com in January for a November stay. It was prepaid but fully refundable, and I cancelled in April when the event I planned to attend was moved. Cowool confirmed that my payment would be refunded, but two months went by with nothing. I’ve spent those two months emailing three different addresses multiple times. Two never respond, and the third says someone will contact me, but nobody does. I can’t find a real customer service email or phone number. Cowool customer service is non-existent. If you prepay, be prepared to lose the full amount if you cancel, even with a fully refundable booking. You’d be better off at the hotel across the alley. I’ve stayed there several times without problems. Added comment: Cowool said only Hotels.com could refund the payment. Hotels.com had acknowledged my request two months earlier, cancelled the booking, and said only Cowool could issue the refund. A complete runaround, and another reason to avoid this hotel chain.

Meeting other guests at the planned events was a great part of the stay, and I’d definitely recommend joining in. The staff were among the friendliest I’ve met, always ready to help and able to speak French and English. My room had a breathtaking mountain view, too. I had a great time here.
