Ibis Grenoble Gare

The room I'd paid for was supposed to have a “view,” but I got a corner room that smelled of cigarette smoke. The heating didn't work properly, and I could smell burning from the ventilation. The air was humid, too. At reception they asked if I wanted breakfast the next day, and I said yes, but then they wouldn't let me eat because they said I hadn't requested and paid for it. The receptionist was rude, and they also said parking was included when it wasn't. Very, very disappointed! Eventually they realized they'd made a mistake and asked me to come back for breakfast. It felt like a bad joke. I'll never return!

The room, the air and the windows were always wet. Even things left on the table got damp. The mattress was comfortable and the linen seemed clean, but the room smelled musty and had mold spots everywhere. Breakfast was OK. I wouldn't go back.

I spent five days here and liked the breakfast, which had a good international selection. The rooms are small but cosy. For the price, the location is hard to beat, and if you want to stay in the city, this is a good spot.

The river, Bastille, and mountain views are lovely, and the staff were polite and helpful. On my first night, the air conditioning wasn't working. They told me promptly that a technician would come the next day, and it was fixed by night two. The rooms feel a little dated, but they're clean and well kept. A good choice if you want a reasonable price and don't need frills.
