My girlfriend and I stayed for three nights in May 2025, and it made a decent base for exploring the city. The central station is only a five-minute walk away, and the tram stop is right next door. From there it takes about 10 minutes to reach the city center. The room was clean when we arrived, though the sink smelled nasty until we ran the tap for a bit. There was an induction hob, fridge, kettle, and microwave for cooking. Check-in and checkout went smoothly, and the staff were fine to deal with, except that a cleaner woke us one morning by walking in. Apparently she had the wrong checkout date for us.

For the price, the conditions are good, and it seems decent for students, though cleanliness is an issue. The tram and train stations are close, and you don’t hear the tram passing right outside the windows. With no parks nearby, La Bastille, Le Drac, and Isere are enjoyable places to go. The place is pretty far from the center, and the city isn’t all that beautiful to visit. The cleaning ladies use the same dirty water and slimy mops all over, in the corridor, bathroom, and kitchen. Garbage bins are kept inside the building. Lots of people smoke in their rooms, and the smell comes through the cooker hood. The small balconies attached to the first-floor rooms are often gathering spots for late-night chatting.

This seems better suited to a longer stay, since it’s more like an apartment and has a small but fully equipped kitchen. They don’t clean the rooms every day. The front desk is only open on weekdays, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. I was there for a short stay.

If you mainly need a decent bed and a kitchenette, this is a good choice. It’s very budget, though you probably know that when you book. The rooms have been renovated and are quite nice now, except for the bathrooms. Breakfast gets very crowded, check-in and checkout are difficult, and the corridor lights don’t work properly. They blink randomly.
